Black & White @ 40

Exactly 40 years ago today, on 12th May 1978, the band unleashed their third studio album, entitled Black And White, on the world. It was a monochrome masterpiece and, debatably, the first post-punk album. Peaking at number 2 in the UK charts, it further cemented the band’s position as a major chart act. The album spawned two hit singles, firstly the ode to the Amsterdam Hell’s Angels Nice & Sleazy and secondly, the band’s legendary cover of Walk On By (which they also gave away as a white vinyl freebie with the first 75,000 copies of the album).
